Late last night, the Novean Union Alliance, dispatched a frigate class warship, the SC Orion, on a fact finding mission to the disputed territory around Feli in an effort to determine if piracy was an ongoing issue in the region.
In a public announcement, the Ascendancy Coalition claimed they were hunting down pirates in the region around Feli and were making every effort to contact ships before engaging them in combat.
The SC Orion, crewed by Astonair and Awulf4x, came out of warp in the Feli safe zone and proceeded towards the edge of the combat zone.
Sliding across the boundary they quickly spotted an AC warship patrolling 1 SU in the combat zone.
As Astonair continued to pilot the ship, Awulf4x began broadcasting the AC security code on local provided by AC for the SC Orion. The AC warship quickly locked onto the SC Orion and was able to land a couple of shots on the aft of the ship before it was able to get back into the safe zone.
Feeling that it was a mistake, the crew of the SC Orion repositioned the ship and once again slipped back into the combat zone. This time there were 3 L core AC warships on radar.
Awulf4x again began repeating the message "AC AC this is *security code redacted* - we are on a peaceful rescue and monitoring mission".
This message was repeated several times on local and was clear that the message was being purposefully ignored by the AC fleet as they all began locking the SC Orion for a second time. Astonair was able to get the ship back into safe space before any shots landed but what happened next changed everything.
Sitting meters within the safe zone, Astonair and Awulf4x discussed how to make contact with the AC fleet. While doing so, one of the AC ships slid in close the the SC Orion causing it to dock with the larger ship and took itself and the now docked SC Orion back into the combat zone. The weapons of the three L AC warships blazed to life and the SC Orion erupted into fire.
Awulf4x instinctively locked and fired back but the frigate guns were quickly destroyed and silenced as Astonair, in a vain effort, attempted to get the SC Orion back into safe space. Taking refuge behind what little armor remained in the C&C, Astonair tried to restore something, anything, to working order but with no success.
Awulf4x, clearly knowing how this would end, stood on the deck defiantly challenging the AC weapons to destroy him.
In seconds it was over. The SC Orion now an expanding ball of twisted fiery wreckage and the remains of Astonair and Awulf4x no where to be found.
This encounter clearly shows that the anti-piracy campaign by the AC is just a cover.
They claim to contact vessels before engaging, yet no effort was made to contact the SC Orion's crew let alone acknowleding the SC Orion's crews attempt to contact them. And they purposefully forced the SC Orion back into combat space. All this shows that the pirates are the AC themselves.
When one ship does this it can be discounted as a rogue ship but when a fleet engages in piracy, this only means that it is supported and funded by a government entity.
